The solution to this problem is a home based business. You get to avoid the rush hour traffic in the morning and back home in the afternoon, saving you between two to four hours everyday. That commute being saved, you also save the fuel normally used to go to work or the bus fees. You can be home to put your kids on the bus yourself and save the daycare fees. And this still leaves your late morning and early afternoon open if your home business requires you to see clients.

But a lot of people are not successful in their business, because they lack that commitment that comes with it. When you own a home based business, or have a home based job, you need to be self motivated. The advantage of being at home is not having a boss on your back all day telling you what to do. The disadvantage of being home is not having a boss on your back all day telling you what to do. Too many are taking this business as early retirement they can’t afford. They take this time to sleep in later and later everyday, do some chores they had problems fitting in before, watch new shows on the television they never would have watched before and the list goes on.

Until you work on enough residual income to replace your previous revenues, you need have the motivation to work at home as if it was you had that boss pushing you everyday and get it all done until you passed that level of comfort financially.

With your home based business, you need to still get up in the morning and get ready for work. It may be in your office next to your bedroom, but you need to treat it like work and be ready for anything. Getting up at noon, have brunch, do some laundry, some yard work and then realizing the day has gone and nothing is done will not replace the salary you are no longer getting from your job. But if you get up close to the same time you used to before, get ready to go to your office in the next room, you are prepared to start working right away after breakfast or as soon as the kids have gone to school for those with children. You saved that commute, so you don’t lose on your work even though you spent more time with your family already in the day.

Remember to take some breaks, as you would if you were working away from home. If you don’t do this, the lack of motivation will set in again. You will find that if you commit to your business, your productivity level will be much better than at a job. There are no distractions at home from other employees, so you concentrate more on your task at hand. Therefore, you can afford to take a little longer for lunch without sacrificing your business. And at the end of the day, when the kids and/or spouse get home, you don’t feel like you wasted your day on chores. You also don’t feel drained like you normally are when commuting home after a long day of work. So being more relaxed, it is easier to put in an hour of chores at the end of the day and not feel like it is that extra in your day pushing you over the edge.

Personally, I have done more at home lately then ever before with a job in the way. But I am still productive in my office as I am growing my business and pushing that comfort level higher to bring my wife home as well. I see my kids every morning, one thing that never happened before, except weekends. Working at home is well worth it and doesn’t demand the high cost of having a job. But to do so, you need to have the conviction of success by being self motivated. You know what you need to do to keep yourself at the level you were with a job. And if you Just keep yourself an hour a day to learn more about your business and how to make it better, you will have an ever growing business that will set you free and permit you to reduce the hours you put in a day in the office, even if it is in the next room to your bedroom.

There’s always the easy way and the right way when it comes to deciding what goes with which shoes, or purse, shirt and whatnot. 5. Have I done enough for myself?

I suppose in this case there is no such things on having things too much or too little, but it’s more on how badly you really need it. I’d like to have several of money, no denying that, but the question is that how much are you willing to work for it?

What motivates you? It’s an answer you have to find out for yourself. There are so many things that can make everyone happy, but to choose one of the may be the hardest part. It’s not like you can’t have one serving of your favorite food in a buffet and that’s it. Just try it piece by piece.

10. What Really Makes You Tick?
So? What really makes you tick? You can be just about anything you always wanted to be, but to realize that attaining something that may seem very difficult is already giving up before you even start that journey. Always remember, that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it’s something that you really want.

It wasn’t until I made a written and verbal commitment to myself that I was going to give this business my all, no matter what, that I began to reap the benefits of being an entrepreneur. What I learned is that when we are most challenged is when we need to be committed the most.

Be Agile/Flexible – Combined with being committed is being agile and flexible. Bill Rancic, winner of The Apprentice reality-tv series was recently a guest on my radio show, The Entrepreneur Hour. Our opportunity in being realistic is to know and believe that we have the skills within us to deal with any situation, regardless of the circumstances.

Choose a positive attitude – Having a positive attitude is a choice we can make at any moment of any day. We might be dealing with a difficult situation and while our natural tendency is to feel negative, we can choose to be positive. A positive outlook and attitude is a necessity in staying motivated for the long haul.

Stay Present – When we stay present to our business and to ourselves, we stay out of fear and worry. Staying present means that we “stay in the day” in our minds. We do this by not projecting our fears into the future or worrying about something that may or may not happen. Just like worry is a habit, we can develop the habit of staying present and being free from worry. Sometimes it helps to remind ourselves that all is okay for today.

To illustrate, let me tell you 2 stories. These stories are real life stories of friends of mine. One of them has all the luck in the world in business and the finances that go with it. The other one is always lacking behind when it come to business and the richness of this world. Of course I will change the names to protect those in these stories.

First, John who attempts just about anything and never succeeds. He seems to lack behind in all the opportunities he participates in. He lacks the good luck others have had in those same opportunities. When I think of him, I am reminded of an ant. These insects work very hard all summer long just to get through the winter. That is exactly what John does. He has great ideas, works hard, puts a lot of money aside and then slows down to reap the rewards. Sooner or later, he must come back out, just like the ant in the spring to start all over again and restock. Of course John doesn’t want to start all over again every time. He figures he finally did it right and can finally retire, enjoy life and reap the benefits of his work. It always crumbles down, his rewards never last, then he has to start all over again.

Mark on the other hand, he is rich today. Just a little older than I am and he has been enjoying the benefits of Freedom for almost 20 years now. Not only has he been enjoying this Freedom, but his wealth has been growing ever since. He didn’t completely stop for the winter and enjoy his rewards. He spends his time helping those wanting to follow in his footsteps and build the same business he has been building. He helps people around him who are in need and don’t have the luxuries he benefits from. He also helps make the system he created work better with his presence in it, his positive attitude and mindset which increases the cash flow proportionally much higher than his invested time at the present.

The difference between John and Mark is that one thinks he can work once and benefit the luxuries from it, enjoy life and forget everyone else. Only think of himself. As the other one spends some of his time helping others. His selfless acts attract even more people closer to him and his business. He reads more and then talks about those books in his everyday vocabulary. His mindset shifted from learning, to doing and then teaching. And to be a better teacher, he learns some more. If we look around us, the people that are successful in life, for the majority of them, are people that help others succeed as well. Whether it is in business or their personal lives, they manage to help those looking to achieve the same good luck they have brought onto themselves.

If luck was just random. It would be spread out evenly to everyone on this planet. I think we make our own luck. We decide consciously or unconsciously whether we get good luck or not. We decide it by our actions, our thoughts, our mindset. If you want better luck, follow in the foot steps of the ones that have made it for themselves and change your mindset to match their way of thinking. And then keep the wealth of the luck going by helping others achieve what they cannot achieve on their own, then you will grow your own wealth with this luck you have created for yourself. It took me 20 years to learn this life lesson from Mark. I could have been free a long time ago had I followed in his foot steps. But it is never too late to learn. I have achieved that Freedom a few months ago. What are you waiting for?
